...which means that there are way more infected people. So even if the impact is moderate to almost all of those people, the small % of people who have a very rough go of it still adds up to a lot of people.

The people who are getting very sick from Covid at this point are, mostly:

1) Very old and sick people
2) Random unvaccinated people who just get unlucky
